Frequently asked questions - matchTag

Why are my albums “ripped apart”?
Some songs have been assigned to a different album, why?
This can happen if your media collection lists a song as part of a sampler but iTunes Store knows it as part of an album. When matchTag replaces the title information, it will use the data from iTunes and therefore assign the song accordingly.

Why are the cover images so tiny?
Well, since a few weeks iTunes provides larger images now - the cover images do have a size of 1200 x 1200 pixels, which isn´t that tiny, right ?

Why hasn't the title information been updated in some songs?
This can happen. Each title has a unique iTunes Store ID, but sometimes the information cannot be loaded.

Why am I forced to use iTunes Match in order to use matchTag?
Files coming from the iCloud have a unique iTunes ID. This allows for title information to be paired up correctly with the relevant files. If the files are not loaded from the iTunes iCloud, the ID is missing and the process does not work.

Why am I not able to call up the context menu in iTunes to activate the
new column “iCloud Status”?
In order to use this feature, you need to activate “Secondary click - click in bottom right corner” in system preferences under Mouse/Trackpad.

What is the meaning of the "cloud" icons?
